Separating fact from fantasy is almost impossible as very few written records have survived the successive dynasties that have reigned over this incredibly diverse Himlayan kingdom. This section of the Ayo Gorkhali Timeline traces the development of Nepal from the time of the Kiratis almost a thousand years BCE (Before the Common Era or 'BC'), when the mountain kingdom did not extend much further than the Kathmandu Valley, through the invasions and expansion under the Lichhavi, Thakuri and Malla dynasties, until the time of the British arrival in India in the 17th Century CE (Common Era or 'AD'). This section of the Timeline is no more than a very basic summary of a fascinating and truly epic period in Nepali - and global - history. They originally followed Tibetan Buddhism, until Indian Brahmans, fleeing the Islamic invasion of India (9th to the 14th centuries), arrived and converted them to Hinduism. Most modern Khas people will not refer to themselves as Khas (they consider it to be humiliating), instead calling themselves Chhetri, or Thakuris, after the caste that converted them. The Khasas were a warlike tribe who built three capitals over time: Taklakot in Tibet, and Sinja and Dullu in Nepal. From the 11th century, their powerful kingdom, known as the Malla Empire (not related to the Malla Kingdoms of Kathmandu Valley), grew, covering much of west Nepal, Ladakh, Kashmir and western Tibet. As the Empire fell apart from the 14th century, many of the ruling families migrated throughout Nepal, so today many common Nepali surnames (Thapa, Basnet, Bista and Bhandari), as well as the national language, have their roots in the ancient and once proud Khas kingdom.The Khas continue to worship their shamanic mountain deities, and rarely adhere to traditional Hindu rituals.there original religion is "masta" still followed in western nepal. check this buddist sculptures of khasa malla kings. http://asianart.com/articles/khasa/index.html aba sabai kura bistarai kuldai cha.

valley there were lichhivi kings and aftr lichivi kings malla kings came to power.in east there was kirati kings of kirati rajya of rai and limbus tribute. khas kingdom foundar was nag raj. his decendents were kirpa challa, karpa challa, ashok malla, jitari malla and so on. since the khas kingdom had broken down into karnali region and gandaki region. 22 kingdom in karnali region and 24 kingdom in gandaki region. afer whole nepal was unified by great king prithivi narayan shah. to know the history of khas people and khas language i request the interested people to visit the mid-western and far-western region of nepal and the himalayan and hills areas of mid-western and far-western region. to know the history we should first visit that place and find the historical places of that place. you should visit uttarkhand of india also or the kumon and gardwal also. kunmon , gardwal language is also similar to nepali language of far-western region. and the people of this region are also same as we nepalese. because at first nepal boundry was upto kagada in the west and tista river in the east. kagada river is near to punjab region of india. nepal had lost it 2/3 land in the 1950 b.s treaty with east-india company or the british colony india. talking of khas history. if we go to the history of hindu relion. hindu relion was originated in sindu valley or it is also know as indus valley civilization. know indus valley is in pakistan. at first india, pakisthan,bangladesh was all under british colony india. there are hindu now also in afganisthan and pakisthan. the punjab state of india has been divided as punjab state of india and punjab state of pakisthan. there is also punjab state in pakisthan. there were hindu kingdom in afganistan and pakisthan but after the hindus of this region of sindu or indus valley had been defeated by the muslims. after this region the muslim attacked the hindus kingdom of punjab, rajesthan, maharastha and so on. the muslim entered india or previous mahabharat or hindusthan under the mughal sultan or sehensah AKBAR. there were many battle between the muslim sultan and the hindu kings of india. some of the brave hindu kings were maharana pratap, prithiviraj chauhan , shivaji raje bhosle etc who fought against the muslim sultan. finally the whole region had come to the hand's of british empire or the east-india company. british people gave the name of this country india. the native or the ethnic people of india were dravids. who are also now in india. the aryan's or the hindus were the migrative people who were the origin's of the sindhu or indus valley which is now in pakisthan. but hindus came to this region in early and early may be 2 or 3 century ago. on group of hindu went to plains of india from the rajesthan region and punjab region. this region has boarder with pakisthan. other group of hindu of indus valley went to mountain region of jammu and kashmir, since jammu and kashmir has also boarder with pakisthan. hindu of indus valley went to jammmu, kashmir, himalchal pardes,uttarkhand, nepal,sikkim etc. since the uttarkhand or kumau, gardwal had its capital in doti district of nepal. kumau, gardwal was under the doti rajya of the bahese rajya of the karnali region. the khas king nagraj has founded the khas kingdom which has the teritory of trisuli river in the east and jammu and kashmir region in the west. after khas malla kingdom had break down in to bahese rajya in karnali region and chaubese rajya in gandaki region. in bahese rajya there were kings as kalyal shahi in the jumla region, raikas malla and shahi in doti region, raskoti shahi in dailekh dullu region, sobanshi shahi in achham region, singh's king in bajhang region , bajura district , there were also bom kings at first in bajhang region, shah kings were in salyan, jajarkot, shahi king in rukumkot of rukum district, there were bom malla kings in pyuthan etc. as in gandaki region there were shah, sen ,shahi, khad,malla, ucchi malla, meghasi malla kings. there was chauhan kings in tulsipur of dang district who had fought with the gorkhali kings. there were also rathore in salyan districts. finally all small kingdom was unified by great kind prithivi narayan shah and his son bahadur shah. west part of nepal was unified by bahadur shah time. gorkhali or nepalese had extended there teritory upto kagada in the west and tista in the east. gorkhali solders had fought with the king of punjab ranjit singh but gorkhali could not win the punjab state. gorkhali king had also fought against the king of gardwal sansar chand and sansar chand had been defeated by gorkhali solders. the muslims who could not defeat the hindu kings of india came nepal to attack the hindu kings of gandaki region. there was battle between the muslim sultan and gorkhali solders in prithivi narayan shah time. but gorkhali solders defeated the muslim solders and captured the guns and other weapens of the muslim solders.
